St Christopher’s School Bahrain will present the region’s most prestigious and renowned musical event of the year, the Young Musicians of the Gulf (YMoG) 2021.

The four-day online event will be taking place from 22 to 25 February.

The British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) YMoG event was originally conceived in 1998 as a celebration of young musical talent within the Gulf and has since become the most prestigious and high-profile competition in the region.

St Christopher’s School is proud to have initiated and played host to an event of such great magnitude since its inception, with the exception of only one year.

St Christopher’s School’s Director of Music Caron Lisett said: “YMoG is proud to announce that HSBC Bank Middle East Limited in Bahrain is this year’s main event sponsor.

We are honoured to have their recognition and support.” Shakofa Asghar, Head of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC in Bahrain, said: “We’re thrilled about supporting Young Musicians of the Gulf and know that arts and culture play a key role in developing healthy minds.

We believe that all contestants are a driving force and a talent that should be nurtured and cherished.

We wish them great success in the future.” This year, there will be 87 participants from 22 schools across the region competing as instrumentalists or vocalists.

Internationally acclaimed adjudicators will give feedback to all musicians, judge each round and choose the Young Musicians of the Gulf 2021 overall winner and runner-up.
