Municipal fees reduced last month for 160 Bahraini families who are renting houses

The Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Eng. Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf issued a decision to reduce municipal fees for 160 Bahraini families who live in rented houses during the month of January.
It was in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and within the framework of the Cabinet’s decision to ease the burden on citizens renting houses.
Eng. Khalaf explained: “These decisions come in implementation of the supreme desire of the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa aimed at providing a decent life for all citizens by reducing the burdens of living on their shoulders, through reduced municipal fees consistent with the needs of citizens, as well as exempting some people with limited income from paying future fees or cancelling their old debts.”
He indicated that in accordance with the Municipalities Law No. 35 of 2001 amended by Law No. 38 of 2001 and the Executive Regulations for Municipalities Law promulgated by Cabinet Resolution No. 16 of 2002, especially Paragraph (B) of Article (48) of the aforementioned regulation based on the proposal of managers and all municipalities, municipal fees for 160 Bahraini families were reduced during the month of January 2021.
He pointed out that the Ministry seeks to harness all capabilities and resources to improve the citizens’ standards of living.
The Minister also stressed that there is continuous coordination between the Municipalities Affairs and the Consumer Affairs Services Department at the Electricity and Water Authority in order to amend municipal fees for these families in their electricity bills, in implementation of the aforementioned ministerial decisions.
