Capital Municipality beautified with BD120,000

The Capital Municipality has implemented eight beautification projects last December at a cost of BD120,000, it was revealed. The Director-General of the Capital Municipality, Engineer Muhammad Saad Al Sahli said they were implemented in the spirit of promoting sustainable urban development that aims to highlight the aesthetic elements in the region.

He indicated that this comes within the framework of the municipality’s interest and under the directives of the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs to increase the green area, whose positive impact is reflected in the requirements of environmental balance and the development of the aesthetic facade.

Al Sahli said that the Capital Municipality was keen in implementing its beautification projects taking into account the choice of sustainable plant species cultivation, which has an impact on preserving water and financial resources in terms of its ability to adapt to the nature of local climatic conditions throughout the year.

The Municipality is in the process of implementing five beautification projects, which are afforestation on King Faisal Street and Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Street by planting more than 300 shade trees and beautifying and afforesting the foot roundabout by planting palms and trees from Al Jahmani, and more than 70 various trees in the vicinity of the roundabout.

The other projects include the beautification of the castle roundabout by installing artificial grass and stones, providing games for children in each of Sitra Bridge Walkway, Zinj Park and Seef Park,

in addition to installing a rubber floor for the Abu Ghazal Park play area, and rehabilitating public facilities and service buildings in Salmaniya Park, Mahooz Park, Adliya Park and Al Wahda Park.

Three other projects will be implemented upon completion of the necessary procedures, namely the establishment of an arboretum in Salmaniya Park to increase the green area and densify shade trees in all sites of the governorate; providing and installing energy-powered lighting solar system for the East Coast Corniche; in addition to implementing the use of solar energy in lighting trees in a number of main streets.
