Coast Guard announces end of registration for old boats

TDT | Manama

The grace period to register old boats that are less than 15 feet and whose owners do not have proper ownership documentation, including that for jet skis, has ended, the Coast Guard announced yesterday. Coast Guard Commander Major-General Alaa Siyadi said this, in reference to the two-and-a-half-year grace period for a law issued in January of 2018 on registration rules and safety requirements of small boats of loads of less than 150 tonnes.

The law obliges the owners of all boats to register them at the Coast Guard’s Registration and Licence Division. He called upon applicants to provide all required documents, including a country of origin certificate, the cancellation certificate if the boat is registered in another country, the customs statement certificate, and the ownership contract. He said that no application will be approved without those documents.
