Bapco Signs Key A/B Pipeline Contracts with Aramco

A key contract signing ceremony took place here yesterday between the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and Saudi Aramco in the presence of the Minister of Energy, Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza to commence the implementation of the A/B Pipeline Project.
Also present at the ceremony were senior officials of the oil and gas sectors in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and UAE. Bapco was represented in the signing ceremony by its Chairman of the Board of Directors Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. Saudi Aramco was represented by its Vice President Eng. Fahad Al Hilal.
Al Robaya Holding Company of Saudi Arabia was awarded the onshore side of the contract, whereas the National Petroleum Construction Company of UAE was awarded the offshore side of the contract. Both Al Robaya Holding Company and National Petroleum Construction Company have been selected after competitions with leading international companies, which reflects the distinguished status of Gulf companies at global levels. Tenders for Bahraini contractors will be announced in the near future.
The signing ceremony marks a historic day in the legacy of both Bapco and Saudi Aramco due to its key significance to the national economy of both kingdoms. The new pipeline is expected to meet the growing demand for crude oil in the future following the implementation of the Bapco Modernization Program (BMP). The length of the new A/B Pipeline is 115 km, of which 42 km of the pipeline is submerged undersea while 73 km runs on land. Commenting on this occasion, Bapco’s Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa expressed Bapco’s pride in signing the contract, hailing its historic value. He praised the long close relationship between Bapco and Aramco over the history.
