High quality healthcare services to citizens remains ‘govt’s top priority’

Deputy Premier, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, has stressed the government’s interest in ensuring the sustainability and quality of health services that are delivered to everyone in the Kingdom, in line with the fundamentals of the development march, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in order to achieve sustainable development goals, especially the one focusing on providing comprehensive health care.  

He highlighted the Kingdom’s keenness to go ahead with implementing the National Health Plan which was endorsed by the Cabinet, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

The Deputy Premier affirmed that the National Health Plan is a roadmap towards change in the health sector until 2025, as it aims to achieve the quality of health service delivery, as well as to ensure the funding and sustainability of the services, in addition to the provision of the necessary infrastructure and human resources, and ensuring their governance.

Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla was speaking as he patronised and opened the “2019 Global Meeting of the Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage (JLN)”, organised by the Supreme Council for Health (SCH), in partnership with the   Joint Learning Network (JLN). Ministers, guests and representatives of 34 countries from all over the world attended the conference.

On the occasion, the deputy premier stressed that holding JLN’s annual Global Meeting of the Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage in Bahrain reflects the Kingdom’s keenness to attract specialised medical conference that bring together international experts and support efforts to enhance cooperation and expertise exchange in the medical field, and build regional and international partnerships to consolidate the sustainability of health services, in the midst of the gradual progress witnessed by the health sector in Bahrain at all levels.

The deputy premier praised the efforts exerted by the Supreme Council for Health, led by Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, to develop the health sector in the Kingdom, wishing the conference every success. During the opening ceremony, SCH President, Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, stressed that choosing Bahrain to host the conference is an international recognition of the Kingdom’s major health achievements thanks to the tremendous support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

He expressed deepest thanks and appreciation to Deputy Premier, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, for opening the key international conference, which, he said, embodies the government’s support for the progress witnessed by the health sector in the kingdom. He pointed out that the conference is among the initiatives launched by the Kingdom to promote regional and international cooperation in the field of universal health coverage, and enhance coordination among countries to exchange expertise and experiences in this field.
