Lecture focuses on SDGs

The Civil Service Bureau, in collaboration with the Office of the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Kingdom, organised a lecture titled “the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals”.

The Director of Human Resources Development Directorate, Mohammed Saleh Al Dawood, stated that the lecture reviewed the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals at the global and Arab levels, as well as the 2030 Agenda and the goals, objectives and indicators of sustainable development and their inclusion in government programmes.

He also added that the lecture discussed the role of the government sector in approaching and linking the objectives of sustainable development and the government sector. Mr Ali Salman Saleh from the UNDP office said that in order for the government sector to reach sustainable development goals, all development process partners should be involved including the government sector as well as the private sector and civil society institutions.

He further explained that linking the objectives of sustainable development with national plans and strategies requires monitoring activities of various government sectors and touching on the goals, objectives and indicators of sustainable development by monitoring the national strategies and plans related to government plans that contain programmes, projects and initiatives.
