Manama

Three youngsters were arrested after they robbed a cold store in Busaiteen twice within a span of 72 hours.

The youngsters, aged 10 to 20, had earlier stolen BD430 from the same store. Upon investigation, police concluded the crime was not committed by professionals and instructed the shop owner what to do if such a situation happens again.

Muharraq Police General Director Colonel Shamsan Buaneen was quoted as telling Interior Ministry's Publication Al Amn, “We examined the scene and understood that some amateurs were behind the crime. We also examined some CCTV footages from nearby shops and a nearby hotel and found all suspects were young, though they were all wearing masks.” He said the way the robbery was carried out, it seemed they were simply a group of youngsters who got together to rob shops.

Interestingly, only three days after the first robbery, the suspects struck again at the same shop. They brandished knives and asked the workers to hand over cash.

However, this time, the shop employees were prepared, and one of the employees alerted police.

After robbing all the money, the three of them rushed to a car parked outside to escape. Meanwhile the other workers started shouting and calling out police, and in the panic, the suspects lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a pavement.

They managed to escape in the car from the spot, but was later nabbed by police as they were changing the tyre of their car.
