Detained fishermen to reach Kingdom soon

Three Bahrain-based Indian fishermen, detained in Qatar for illegally entering the country’s territorial waters, will reach the Kingdom soon. 

Speaking to DT News, social activist Padalingam said that as many as seven fishermen had been detained by the Qatari officials for illegally entering its territorial waters. 

“Four of them have already reached Bahrain. Three others- Fallan, Pradeep and Sahaya Sojin- will reach the Kingdom soon,” he informed here yesterday. 

Meanwhile, quoting Indian embassy officials in Doha, Qatar’s English daily, Gulf Times reported that the three fishermen were freed
on Monday. 

The daily added that the fishermen would be allowed to leave Qatar for Bahrain after the completion of deportation formalities.

A group of seven Indian fishermen were arrested by Qatar Coast Guards on July 5 for entering Qatari waters.

Four of them reached Bahrain with their boats on Monday. Three others were sentenced to 42 days of detention, from the date of arrest. They were freed on Monday, as their jail term ended on Sunday. It will take a couple of days to complete the necessary deportation formalities, Gulf Times reported. Of these seven fishermen, six belong to Tamil Nadu, while one from Kerala.
