Spotlight on Islamic empowerment of women
An annual women’s Mawlid Sharif Conference is to be held on Friday, November 23, with an aim to empower women, at the Hisham Shahaby Auditorium. The conference, which is to be hosted by Rakaiz Al Ijtima’iah, comes as a part to of events organised to commemorate the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Shagufta Ahmad, Director of Rakaiz Al Ijtima’iah told Tribune, “Rakaiz Al Ijtima’iah translated to ‘social pillars’ in English, is a recently registered charity in Bahrain. “This year’s conference is under the theme ‘Islam’s Empowerment of Women,’ to highlight how the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad into this world more than 1,400 years ago marked the end of centuries of oppression of women and heralded a new era of hope and mercy for the world.”
“At the same time, the conference will reflect on ways to empower women so that they could emerge contributors to the development of societies.”
