Tracking anti-poll elements

A prominent London-based human rights organisation has announced its intention to record possible violations while the voting process gets underway at the Bahrain Embassy in London. The move by the Gulf European Centre for Human Rights comes amidst chances of violations and causing disruptions to the voting process for electing parliamentarians and municipal council members from the part of protesters.

Speaking to Tribune, Centre General-Secretary Faisal Fulad said, “During the past elections, many protesters would come here to harass voters, which is nothing but violating their rights. This time we are planning to record all such violations. “We will not be monitoring inside the embassy, only outside the embassy as we do not have the authority to monitor inside the embassy.

Generally, protesters have the tendency to take pictures of voters and publish them on social media networks, which is a clear violation of human rights. “These are some of the tactics to intimidate the voters. “We will publish our findings on our social media networks while sending them to the Bahrain Election Commission as well as international human rights organisations,” Mr Fulad pointed out.

The centre also issued a statement, which said, “The centre, legally registered in the United Kingdom, aims to monitor the elections externally at the Kingdom of Bahrain’s embassy in London on November 20, when the elections will be held. “The centre will monitor the course of the election process and the Bahraini citizens participating in the elections outside the embassy from 8am to 8pm.

Any intimidation, harassment and disruption of the right of the road and filming citizens without their desire will be recorded. “The Centre will issue a detailed report and data on its monitoring activities on November 20,” it stated.
