Death sentence for killing neighbor

A man who lay in wait and stabbed his neighbour to death outside his home in Shakhura has been sentenced to death.

The First High Criminal Court delivered the ruling yesterday after finding that the accused, aged in his forties, had carried out the killing on purpose and with prior planning.

The victim, who lived nearby, was attacked without warning as he stepped out of his house. The man behind the stabbing was not only a neighbour but also a relative, prosecutors said.

Body

Police were called after the body was found in the street, not far from the victim’s front door. He had been stabbed several times.

The Public Prosecution launched an immediate investigation. A team visited the scene, along with a forensic doctor and crime scene officers. They examined the body, took samples, and noted marks at the site.

Identity

Camera footage from the area and statements from nearby residents pointed to the man’s identity. He was picked up by police and, under questioning, admitted to the killing.

The man told prosecutors he had made up his mind to get rid of the victim following earlier disputes between them. He then waited outside the victim’s home and struck with a knife.

Weapon

The forensic team examined the wounds, confirming they matched the weapon seized. The man remained in custody while the case was reviewed.

After several hearings, the court handed down the death sentence for deliberate and pre-planned murder.
