A man has been jailed for three years and another fined BD50 following a scuffle in a stable that left one of them with part of his nose gone and a long-term injury.

The Appeals Court upheld both sentences after a fight between a 42-yearold and a man in his thirties ended with the younger one suffering damage described by doctors as a 10 per cent permanent disability.

It began when a nearby worker heard shouting and rushed to find the two men grappling on the ground. He stepped in to break it up.

The older man fled in a car while the witness and another man tried to stop the bleeding from the other’s face.

Blood was pouring from his nose.

During questioning, the older man admitted he had bitten his opponent several times.

He said he was pinned down and only trying to get him off.

The younger man said he had been thrown to the ground and bitten three times. One bite was to his nose, the others to his stomach and thigh.
