"It just took them 5 mins to reached the scene of incident", Ministry of Interior twitted

A major fire broke out in a steel factory near Asry within the Hidd Industrial Area around 5.00 am yesterday. A group of firefighters rushed to the scene and contained it, while the reason behind the fire is unknown. “I was on my way to the factory when the fire broke out. The factory was evacuated immediately, while we still don’t know what instigated the fire. It has caused a lot of damages, but no-one got injured in the mishap,” a source told Tribune. The Ministry of Interior further confirmed the incident on its Twitter handle, stating: “Civil Defence controlled a fire in a company at Salman Industrial City in Hidd with 17 vehicles and 74 personnel. The cooling operation has commenced.” Brigadier General Abdulaziz Al Amer, Director-General of the Civil Defence Department, said that the main operations room received a message at 5:25 am and within a span of five minutes the team arrived at the scene of the incident. “Fire vehicles were distributed in three divisions and the fire was contained in a short time.” “The firefighters carried out the operation from outside because of the presence of chemicals inside the factory, while the hazardous materials team made sure that there were no leakages to prevent the fire from being intensified. “The operations lasted until three hours wherein all the employees were  evacuated from the factory,” he added. The Director-General further added that the investigations are ongoing to find out the reason that led to the fire.
