Bahrain to attend Special Olympics 2015

 Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa will lead an official delegation to the Summer Special Olympics to be held from July 25 to August 2 in Southern California, USA.

 Deputy delegation head Mohammed Al-Maatoug, administrator Khalil Jamal, table tennis team coach Nasser Kawaz, Athletics coach Moussa Hassan, Equestrian coach Sayyed Adnan and other figures will also take part, in addition to 12 players and athletes. 

 According to BDSF Chairman Daij Al-Khalifa, the Special Olympics provides an opportunity to exchange cultures and expertise and keep abreast of other countries' traditions.

 The inaugural ceremony will be attended by US First Lady Michelle Obama. "The First Lady's attendance complemented by the diversity of these talented performers will make the opening ceremony an extraordinary moment for Los Angeles and for the Special Olympics movement," said LA2015 President and CEO Patrick McClenahan. "We look forward to sharing the excitement of the Opening Ceremony with millions of people worldwide."

 With nearly 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches representing 177 countries, more than 500,000 spectators are anticipated to attend the World Games. Tickets for the Opening Ceremony are now available at LA2015.org via Ticketmaster.
