Unlicensed kindergarten referred to criminal court
Manama : An unlicensed kindergarten was referred to the criminal court yesterday, after 11 complaints against it were received this year alone.
This was confirmed yesterday by Ministries and Public Authorities Proasecution Head Salman Al Asfoor, who explained that the case was referred to the lower criminal court.
He said that the complaints were related to violations of Decree Law 25 of 1998 concerning private educational and training institutions by operating without authorisation.
Al Asfoor’s statements came one day after Private and Continuous Education Assistant Undersecretary in Education Ministry Jaffar Al Shaikh confirmed that 13 kindergartens were referred to the prosecution in 2017.
Al Shaikh said the violations were detected during 184 unannounced inspection visits to the institutions throughout the year, adding that more kindergartens were officially warned by the ministry.
However, the names or locations of the kindergartens were not mentioned in neither of the officials’ statements.
