Shops gutted in fire
Manama : A few shops were gutted in a major fire that broke out in a two-story building in a busy area in Manama souq yesterday. No casualties were reported.
According to a source, the fire started in a building on Shaikh Abdulla road downtown Manama.
Fire-fighting teams from civil defence department extinguished the fire.
“Danger was averted thanks to quick action by the fire brigade,” said the source.
The Interior Ministry confirmed the incident.
“The firefighting teams consisted of 13 vehicles and 49 personnel. Investigation continues to determine the reasons behind the fire. The Public Prosecution has been notified,” Director-General of Civil Defence said.
