Bahrain beaten by Egypt 37-25

Manama : Bahrain, under coach Ebrahim Ali, lost its fourth Group A match last night against Egypt by 37-25 in the 2017 Men’s Youth World Handball Championships at the Tbilisi Sports Palace in the capital of Georgia.

The hero and man of the match was Egypt’s goalkeeper Emad Ebrahim who made seven saves from 11 attempts (in the first-half) to restrict Bahrain who trailed 10-19 at half-time.

It was different for Bahrain’s keeper Qassim Al Maqabi after making just three saves from 22 in the same period.

The win for Egypt ensures they reach the Round of 16 round, while Bahrain will likely be in the placement competition due to its massive goal difference deficit.

Bahrain’s centre back Ahmed Ali was nominated as his teams’ player of the match.

This defeat leaves Bahrain bottom of the group after losing its opening group match by 42-20 to defending champions France, bouncing back with a 35-31 win over Denmark in its second match, then losing to Norway 39-23 in its third match.

Bahrain concludes its round-robin group matches against Sweden today with France playing Denmark and Egypt taking on Norway.
