Manama : Safra Youth Centre defeated Abu Saiba Youth Centre 3-2 in the third round of preliminary matches of Group 1 in the latest matches of the Fifth Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls (Khalid 5) at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.

Man of the match was Ali Salah of the winning Safra team.

In a fiercely competitive action packed Group 2 match, East Riffa beat Al Qurayya 3-1 which saw five yellow cards, three red cards and 14 fouls and East Riffa’s coach Abdulla Ibrahim sent to the stands. After all this drama, East Riffa’s Mohammed Maher was named the man of the match.

In the same group,  Al Naeem achieved their third consecutive victory in the league after winning 6-2 against Hoora and Gudaibiya  with Mohammed Ashoor the man of the match, while Dumistan was a 5-2 winner against Karbabad with Taha Al Fardan man of the match.

The organisers also invited and honoured international assistant referee Nawaf Shaheen. The honouring also included sports journalist and columnist in Al-Ayam Newspaper Nasser Mohammed, for his endless support to Khalid 5 and other local sports events.

Organisers said that after two rounds of matches that 255 goals had been scored with the top scorer being Hussain Abdulredha with six goals.

This tournament is being played under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities and organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, under the slogan #Generations_Meeting.

It started on July 24 and continues until September 14 and features 59 teams, divided into 36 youth centres teams, 9 unregistered clubs, 8 teams of people with disabilities institutions and 6 girls teams.
