Fire breaks out at Moscow's iconic St. Basil's Cathedral

Moscow: As reported by Russian state news agency TASS, a fire broke out on Saturday at St. Basil's Cathedral, a world-renowned church overlooking Moscow's Red Square. The fire apparently began in the director's office on the cathedral's first floor, where furniture and office supplies caught fire, affecting an area of approximately 10 square meters.
Approximately ten fire engines were called to the scene, and firemen were able to control and extinguish the blaze before it spread to other areas of the ancient building. Officials confirmed that no injuries had been recorded.
St. Basil's Cathedral, erected in the 16th century by Tsar Ivan IV (Ivan the Terrible), is one of Russia's most iconic structures and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Authorities have initiated an inquiry to determine the cause of the fire, and the extent of the historic structure's damage is still being assessed.
