Seven companies in the dock for forging documents

Manama : The Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry has asked the Companies Control Directorate to initiate legal actions against seven commercial establishments in the Kingdom after the ministry found that they filed forged documents through ‘Sijilat’ system.

“Sijilat” is an online commercial registration portal specifically designed to help investors obtain a Commercial Registration (CR) to establish a new business in Bahrain.

“Some of the documents filed by the companies through the ‘Sijilat’ system were of questionable nature,” the directorate explained in a statement.

The cases were referred to the Public Prosecution for further action. Legal and administrative procedures will be taken according to the Commercial Registration Law.

Explaining the action, the Ministry warned that it will not tolerate “submitting incorrect documents through Sijilat system”.

The ministry has also taken similar actions in the past against establishments for misusing the ‘Sijilat’ system. Legal actions were taken against restaurants, supermarkets and other commercial and industrial institutions.

Violators are usually subjected to administrative procedures. The matter will be referred to the Public Prosecution only if the violations are serious.
