Durasovic breezes past Konecny
Manama : Norway’s Viktor Durasovic was a 7-6(7), 6-4 winner over second seeded Michal Konecny of the Czech Republic ranked 337 yesterday in the quarter finals of the Men’s Singles at the Sixth Bahrain International Tennis Federation (ITF) Futures Men’s Professional Tournament at the Bahrain Tennis Club premises in Juffair.
The second remaining seed Benjamin Lock from Zimbabwe and ranked sixth also crashed out losing 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to Germany’s Florian Fallert.
In other matches, Mick Lescure of France beat compatriot Baptiste Crepatte 7-6(3), 6-4 and Slovenian Tom Kocevar-Desman received a walkover win from fellow countryman Nik Razborsek.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Doubles semi-finals, top seeds Ruben Gonzales from the Philippines and Sem Verbeek were 6-3, 4-6, 11-9 winners over third seeded Tunisia’s Anis Ghorbel and Chilean Jorge Montero and German Florian Fallert and Belgian Jonas Merckx were 6-4, 6-2 winners over Swedish double pair Markus Eriksson and Milos Sekulic.
The championship in its sixth edition is being held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
