63 weighing scales seized from Manama
Manama : The Directorate of Standardisation and Metrology of the Ministry of Industry Commerce & Tourism yesterday seized 63 weighing scales from various shops in the capital, as it did not meet the required standards.
The move comes as part of the inspection campaign launched by the Directorate and the Capital General Secretariat (formerly municipality) to check and verify the measuring instruments used in Manama central market.
The checks, which began from the early hours, were carried out in all shops. The officials checked the weighing balances of 486 scales in total.
The Directorate later announced that 255 out of 700 weight tools were also confiscated from the market.
Standardisation and Metrology Chief Mona Alalawi urged shop owners to verify their measuring instruments and get their devices checked at the Directorate at Bahrain Financial Harbour mall.
