Severe winds whip through Kingdom; wreak havoc

Manama : High winds wreaked havoc across Bahrain yesterday knocking trees and lampposts onto roadways and leaving many trapped in traffic jams.
A car was damaged when a   shop’s signboard fell on it at Salmaniya Avenue, shattering its glass. A lamp post fell down due to strong winds at the  King Fahd Causeway.
Trees were uprooted in Casino Garden in  Muharraq and the Janabiya Highway.
The weather will be partly cloudy in Bahrain today with dust, haze and scattered rain with meteorological directorate warning of poor visibility.
Meanwhile, heavy winds were also reported in many GCC countries.
According to social media posts, Hafar Al-Batin city of Saudi Arabia was blanketed by a thin dust storm, slowing down traffic in parts of the city yesterday.
Marine traffic at Shuwaikh Port in Kuwait has been suspended due to bad weather conditions, Kuwait Ports Authority said.
Kuwait is witnessing dusty weather with wind speeds over 40 km/hr and visibility level below 500 meters. Directorate General of Civil Aviation has said that the aviation traffic is normal despite a wave of dust surging in the country.
