GAZING AT THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD: JAPANESE PHOTOGRAPHY FROM 1970S TO THE PRESENT 

Date: Ongoing till 4 March 2017, 8:00am - 8:00pm 

Venue: Bahrain National Museum 

Presenting an overview of the photographic expression that has emerged in Japan since the 1970s, this exhibition includes 76 photographs by 23 photographers. The exhibit is divided into two sections, the first, “A Changing Society,” focuses on human beings as members of society. The second, “Changing Landscapes,” looks at cities, the suburbs and nature. This exhibition is presented in Bahrain in cooperation with the Japan Foundation. 

 

TASTE TOUR

Time: Based on each restaurant’s operating hours 

The ‘Taste Tour’ will return this year and will include a total of 29 participating restaurants. Participants will be able to sample dishes and vote for their favorite restaurants. They will also have the opportunity to win An Infinity Q50 car from YK Almoayyed & Sons as part of a ‘The Taste Tour’ raffle draw.

 BAHRAIN KERALEEYA SAMAJAM (BKS) PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Venue: BKS Segaiya 

Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) is launching a year-long platinum jubilee celebrations next week. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be the Chief Guest at the two-day inaugural function at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall in Segaiya. Shows specially choreographed by Soorya Krishnamoorthy, the founder-director of the SOORYA Stage and Film Society, will be the highlights on both days. On the first day a team of 35 artists led by South Indian film actress Lakshmi Gopalaswamy will stage B h a r a t h a m - K e r a l a m (India-Kerala) a 25minute –long show depicting the influence of Kerala on Indian culture. A two hour-long mega show Ganesham will be staged the following day. The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam, established in the year 1947 by a group of visionaries, is today one of the oldest and largest leading socio-cultural organizations on the island.
