Delivery of 3,200 housing units soon: Minister

ManamaPreparations are in full swing to implement the directives of Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to distribute additional 3,200 housing units, Housing Minister Basim Alhamer said yesterday.

“The ministry has put forward a schedule for the distribution of the units across the Kingdom starting from September 25,” the Minister informed, and added: “The Housing Ministry’s employees have intensified their efforts and worked during holidays and weekends to verify and prepare the names of beneficiaries in the waiting lists.”

Alhamer extended gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and HRH Crown Prince for their directives to expedite the distribution of housing units.

The scheme includes the distribution of units in regions in various governorates. “They are the East Hidd project in Muharraq, the Riyadh Askar and Hajjiyat projects in the Southern Governorate, the Bloc 609 project in Sitra in the Capital Governorate, in addition to the second phase of the Northern City, the Hamad Town project and the Al-Ramli project in the Northern Governorate,” he explained.

The Minister remarked that the directives issued by Prince Salman during his recent visit to the Housing Ministry reflects the unwavering desire of the leadership and the government to meet the citizens’ housing demands, especially the pending ones. “By the end of the distribution process of the 3,200 units, the ministry will have distributed a total of 6,200 units before the end of 2016.”

He added that the beneficiaries from the four governorates, manly those with old demands, would be contacted to report to the Housing Ministry and receive their certificates.

Alhamer stressed that the Housing Ministry had succeeded in distributing 3,000 units in Eid Al Fitr according to schedule. The Minister exuded confidence that the distribution of 3,200 new units will also be done according to schedule.
