Axe wielding teenager held for robbery bid

ManamaIn a shocking incident, a Bahraini student barged into a house with an axe and tried to rob a wallet from the house owner. The 18-year-old student, who is now standing trial before the High Criminal Court, allegedly trespassed into the house on August 8. 

According to the case, as soon as the teenager entered the house, he saw the Bahraini house owner. Then he threatened him with the axe and asked for his wallet. But in the scuffle, the Bahraini man overpowered him.  He pinned the teen to the ground till the police arrived. 

“I was shocked to see a young man entering the house holding an axe. He threatened that he would attack me if I didn’t give him my wallet. When I refused, he attacked me,” the house owner told prosecutors. “But luckily I managed to drop the axe from his hand. Then I called my family members for help.” 

Along with the teenage boy, another man was also arrested after he was seen outside the house awaiting him. 

The student is facing charges of armed robbery and threatening a civilian with a weapon. 

Meanwhile, during interrogation, the boy claimed that he had barged into the house searching for someone, who embezzled money from him. 

But the police found that his criminal record includes 11 cases, the majority of which are robberies.
