Youths’ role in sustainable progress noted

ManamaSustainable development is a continuous process that needs to be accomplished through the arms and initiatives of youths, said the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs; Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports; and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, yesterday.

Addressing the youth on the eve of International Youth Day, HH Shaikh Nasser said youths are considered as the leaders of the present and the future.

“It was natural burden on the shoulders of youths to implant the concept of the UN-conceived sustainable development goals (SDGs). They are deemed the link between what will be accomplished through development and what the world shall reap as benefits,” he commented.

According to him, Bahraini youths have played an effective role in drafting and crystalising the concepts of sustainable development in the Kingdom.

Shaikh Nasser said that nowadays the effective role of youths could not be underestimated in the accomplishment of the UN’s SDGs 2030.

“We highly trust that youths are the source of our power, who are capable of changing and developing their own communities to achieve development goals as aspired by all nations. In line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, we have provided youths the opportunity to participate in the development process,” he added.
