Bahrain court upholds appeal for 3 in cop’s murder
Manama:Three men convicted in connection with a police officer’s murder case have lost their appeal as the High Criminal Appeals Court upheld their sentences of 15 years in jail each.
The appellants were among the 24 men, who were tried for murdering policeman Imran Ahmed Mohammed. The latter was killed by an explosive projectile fired from around 200 metres in October 2012.
He and fellow officers were lured into an ambush by protesters, who blocked roads in East Eker. Three men have been sentenced earlier to life in jail after being found guilty of premeditated murder.
Nineteen others have been sentenced to 15 years
in prison for their role
in the attack, while a 17-year-old received a reduced sentence of three years due to his age.
They were also convicted of possessing Molotov cocktails, metal rods and taking part in an illegal gathering.
