Indian expat dies in cooking gas cylinder blast

Manama : An Indian expatriate who was hospitalized after severe injuries in a gas cylinder blast while cooking , passed away this morning at the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) hospital. Sivanathan Karmegam(43) was working as an accountant in Al Ameen Transport company. The incident happened 10 days ago in Hidd, following serious burns on his face and body.

Sivanathan was admitted to SMC with severe burns along with colleague Ambujakshan Gajendran(59) from Paravoor in the Kollam district of Kerala, who also suffered more than sixty per cent of burns.

It is said that they were preparing the food in an open space in the morning on that on the fatal day. Sivanathan was watching while Abmujakshan was cooking food when the gas cylinder which had a leakage suddenly exploded on their face. Ambujakshan Gajendran  is a heavy truck driver in the company. 

The dead body is kept in SMC mortuary. Sivanathan hails from the state of Tamil Nadu and has been working with the Al Amen Transport for the past fifteen years. He is survived by his wife and two children who are in India.

The company owner Muhammad Al Ameen told DT News that he would do all necessary help to the family of Sivanathan before repatriating his dead body with help of the Indian Embassy in Bahrain. ‘I need the help of the Indian Embassy to transfer his money from the bank account in Bahrain   to the family in India, Al Ameen said. ‘I visited the hospital this morning and found that Abujakshan’s condition also is deteriorating. It’s so sad. They were very nice and friendly employees. I will do all help to the bereaved family. I am sorry for what happened, he said.
