Manama

A convicted man in a robbery case has had his three years in jail sentence upheld today.

He was standing trial after being charged with looting a cold store in broad daylight with two other thugs who are still at large.

Threatening the Bangladeshi cashier of the outlet at knife point, the fugitives reportedly stole cash amounted at BD200 and a mobile phone and prepaid calling cards from the cold store.

After committing the crime they fled from the scene with the help of the appellant who was waiting for them outside in his car.

"One of them (the fugitives) called me on the day of the incident and he requested to meet me beside a mosque in the area," the appellant told prosecutors after admitting to his involvement in the incident.

He continued, "They asked me later to transport them to this cold store. And when we were only few meters, they wore masks on their faces and took out knives from their trouser pockets. It was then I understood that they intended to rob the store. They stayed for 15 minutes and then they appeared again, and we fled the scene."

He claimed that the fugitives gave him a BD18 tip for his service
