Vandals block roads to school

A gang blocked the roads leading to an elementary public school today in the Capital Governorate.

Education Ministry condemned the act, stating, “Within the continuous terrorist acts that are targeting public educational institutions in the country, vandals blocked the roads leading to Al Munther Ibn Sawa Elementary Boys’ School.”

The ministry explained in its statement that “vandals blocked the roads using different types of trees and rocks, before setting them on fire.”

“This is a new attempt to prevent teachers and students from reaching schools. However, alternative roads were provided so they can reach the school,” the ministry said.

The statement added that the incident adds to almost 500 attacks on public educational establishments that included arson, damaging facilities, vandalism and burglary.

DT News reported on Saturday that three schools were attacked in different parts of the Kingdom throughout the weekend. The attacks included burning the flag of Bahrain in one of the schools.

Security authorities stated the next day that the culprits were arrested and confessed to their crimes. Interestingly, the attackers were underage and Interior Ministry said the parents were summoned and the case was referred to the Juvenile Public Prosecution.
