‘Art enriches society’

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday underlined the crucial role played by art in enriching the cultural and civilisational aspects of a country as well as the visions and aspirations of its people. 

While receiving at the Gudaibiya Palace Awal Theatre’s Board of Directors Chairman and members, HRH Premier hailed the milestone achievements of the GCC theatre movement, voicing pride in the outstanding achievements of GCC theatre artists. 

“Their creativity has succeeded in promoting GCC art across the Arab world,” HRH the Premier said.  

Stressing on the importance of continuous meetings between GCC artists, HRH Premier said such events would enhance GCC peoples’ awareness and strengthen them in facing attempts to influence them culturally.

On the occasion, HRH the Prime Minister lauded the Awal Theatre and its pioneering role in deepening literary and artistic awareness through its successive generations of outstanding artists. 

Awal Theatre Board chairman and members expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his constant support to the artistic and theatre movement in the Kingdom, which, he said contributed in the development of art in Bahrain.

“HRH Premier is the supporter of art and artists in the Kingdom, and is constantly keen on meeting them and lauding their work,” he said while adding that this has consolidated the values of national identity and preserved the distinctive cultural features of the Bahraini society.
