Sandhurst Honors Bahrain’s First Graduate
The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst has honored His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa in recognition of his achievement as the first Bahraini to graduate from the prestigious academy, after joining in 1957.
The ceremony in London marked 70 years of Bahrain’s relationship with the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, highlighting the longstanding military and leadership ties between the Kingdom and the academy.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa said the honor reflects the depth of the historic relationship between Bahrain and Sandhurst, which has continued to develop over the decades.
He also expressed pride in the recognition, describing it as an appreciation of Bahrain’s distinguished presence at the academy and its commitment to developing national talent to the highest military and leadership standards.
During the ceremony, Major General Nick Cowley, Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, honored Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa and presented him with the academy’s sword and medal.
Major General Cowley highlighted the historic ties between Sandhurst and Bahrain, which date back to 1936, when the late Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, then Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies, visited the United Kingdom and the academy.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa also congratulated the Bahraini graduates in the latest cohort, including his grandson, wishing them success in serving their country.
