Youth City 2030 should be expanded after proving its worth as a training ground for Bahrain’s young people, MPs Maryam Al Sayegh and Waleed Al Doseri have said.

The MPs said the project equips young Bahrainis with skills in technology, business, leadership, the arts and voluntary work, while preparing them for the labour market.

Ms Al Sayegh said the scheme put into practice the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to give young people a greater role in shaping Bahrain’s future.

She praised His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, for helping turn the project into a place where talent and ideas can grow.

Ms Al Sayegh said the city also strengthens Bahraini identity through programmes on the kingdom’s history, tolerance, public service and social duty.

Mr Al Doseri said Youth City 2030 had moved youth policy from care to empowerment, turning young people from recipients of help into active partners in public life.

‘Our young people are gaining the tools of the modern age while holding firmly to their Bahraini roots,’ he said.

Both MPs pledged full parliamentary support for the project and called for it to reach a larger number of young Bahrainis.
