New push for logistics and trade links

Bahrain strengthens logistics and transport partnerships with global aviation and UK investment leaders

Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, held two high-level meetings aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub for logistics, transport, and investment.

Meeting with MSC Air Cargo CEO

The Minister received Jan de Vlieger, Chief Executive Officer of MSC Air Cargo, where both sides discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in air cargo operations, ports, and logistics services.

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to further developing Bahrain’s transport and logistics sector through advanced infrastructure and an attractive investment environment. He emphasized ongoing efforts to expand strategic partnerships with leading global companies to boost sector growth and competitiveness.

The discussions also reviewed Bahrain’s competitive advantages, investment opportunities, and incentives offered to cargo operators. Both sides explored ways to strengthen integration between air, sea, and land transport networks to improve regional and international supply chain efficiency.

Talks with UK Officials 

In a separate meeting, the Minister also met Varun Chandra, Special Adviser to the UK Prime Minister on Business and Investment, and Tim Reid, Chief Executive of UK Export Finance.

The talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Bahrain and the United Kingdom in transport, telecommunications, and logistics, as well as expanding investment partnerships in key development sectors.

Both sides reviewed opportunities for collaboration on infrastructure development and financing solutions that support strategic projects and economic growth. The discussions also highlighted ways to strengthen Bahrain’s appeal as a regional hub for investment, logistics, and communications.
