The Ministry of Health is the competent authority responsible for taking legal and administrative action regarding harmful cases of keeping animals and birds in residential areas, the Capital Municipal Council has been informed.
Mohammed Tawfeeq Al Abbas, chairman of the council’s services and public utilities committee, said the clarification came in an official response from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture on how such cases are handled when they affect public health, the environment, or residents’ comfort.
He noted that such violations fall under Law No. 34 of 2018 (Public Health Law), which allows penalties including fines of up to BD3,000, imprisonment, or removal of the cause of harm, with complaints to be addressed by the Ministry of Health through official reporting channels.
