Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the prominent role of Bahraini women in diplomacy, describing them as key partners in promoting peace, dialogue, mutual understanding, and multilateral international cooperation in support of Bahrain’s foreign policy priorities and values.
Speaking on the occasion of the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, observed this year under the theme “Women in Diplomacy: Shaping the Future of Global Cooperation,” Al Zayani extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.
The Foreign Minister expressed pride in the achievements of Bahraini women throughout the Kingdom’s development journey and diplomatic service, attributing their success to the leadership’s vision, government support, and the initiatives of the Supreme Council for Women. He noted that these efforts have strengthened women’s participation in leadership and decision-making positions across various sectors, particularly in diplomacy.
Al Zayani highlighted the strong presence of women within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bahrain’s diplomatic and consular missions abroad, noting that women represent approximately 37% of the ministry’s workforce and 38% of the diplomatic corps. He added that Bahraini women continue to assume senior diplomatic, executive, and administrative responsibilities, while accounting for half of the graduates of the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies.
He also emphasized the contributions of Bahraini women to the Kingdom’s achievements in multilateral diplomacy, preventive diplomacy, and mediation efforts. Their role extends to Bahrain’s participation as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term and its membership on the Executive Board of UN Women for the 2026–2028 term.
The Minister further praised the role of Bahraini women in advancing the Kingdom’s humanitarian and civilizational initiatives aimed at promoting peace, coexistence, justice, and human values. He noted their contributions across the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, as well as in human rights institutions, civil society organizations, and international initiatives that have strengthened Bahrain’s global standing.
