MPs reject Ministers’ questioning on oil price

As per the decision of the majority of MPs, no government official would be questioned by the Legislative Authority (Parliament and Shura Councils) on the background of the sudden gasoline price hike decision.

MPs voted during their weekly meet yesterday against the request submitted by around 30 lawmakers to question both Energy and Finance Ministers Dr Abdulhussain Mirza and Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa.

During an impatiently-awaited voting session yesterday, 15 MPs voted against the questioning request and 15 voted for it, while nine MPs were absent and MP Ali Al Ateesh rejected to vote.

A score of the supporting legislators who supported the questioning walked out of Parliament and didn’t attend the rest of the council’s discussions.

The Members of Parliament also passed several proposals during the session including criminalising taking pictures of traffic accidents and constructing several service facilities in different parts of the Kingdom.
