BIAS 2016 bonanza for hospitality sector in Bahrain

The fourth edition of the Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS 2016) proved a real bonanza to the hospitality sector in Bahrain. The rate of occupancy at five-star hotels topped 90 per cent (90%) during the three-day high-profile exhibition, which concluded on January 23. 

According to statistics released by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA) Acting Chief Executive Officer Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa, the four-star hotels reported a 77.5% rate of occupancy. In a statement today, he said that the overall rate of five and four-star hotels rose to 84%, up from 80% in 2014. 

He congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

He also extended congratulations to HM the King's Personal Representative, BIAS2016 High Organising Committee Chairman His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa for the resounding success of the show. 

Meanwhile, the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) reported 173,000 entered Bahrain through King Fahd Causeway and Bahrain International Airport on January 20-23.
