Android users have been advised to update their smartphones to the latest available software version to ensure that emergency alerts and notifications are received properly and without delay.
The guidance highlights that some alerts delivered via text message notifications may not always produce sound, particularly when received after midnight. This raises concerns that important warnings could be missed if devices are not fully up to date.
Emergency alert systems rely on device compatibility and updated operating software to function effectively. Outdated versions may affect how notifications are displayed or delivered, potentially delaying critical information reaching users.
Users are being encouraged to regularly check for updates and install them as soon as they become available.
To do so, users can open the Settings app on their device, tap on “System,” then select “Software update.” If an update is available, users are advised to follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
The reminder comes as part of broader efforts to improve public awareness of digital readiness for emergency communication systems, ensuring that alerts reach citizens and residents in a timely and reliable manner.
