Malaysia Celebrates National Unity

The Embassy of Malaysia in Bahrain hosted a flag-raising ceremony at the Ambassador’s Residence, Rumah Malaysia, in Manama on September 12, marking Malaysia’s 69th National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati” (Shared Prosperity).

The ceremony brought together members of the Malaysian community in Bahrain and alumni of the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), highlighting the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and Bahrain. The event featured the raising of the Jalur Gemilang to the national anthem Negaraku, followed by a recitation of the Rukun Negara pledge.

Ambassador Highlights Unity

Malaysia’s Ambassador to Bahrain, Shazryll Zahiran, highlighted unity, shared prosperity and international partnerships as key pillars of Malaysia MADANI. He urged Malaysians in Bahrain to reflect these values in their personal and professional lives while strengthening the cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The ambassador also expressed appreciation to Bahrain’s leadership and government for ensuring the safety and security of Malaysians residing in the Kingdom.

New Connectivity

The embassy highlighted AirAsia X’s planned Kuala Lumpur-Bahrain-London Gatwick route, announced in February 2026. Although its launch has been rescheduled to the first quarter of 2027 due to geopolitical conditions, the airline remains committed to establishing operations in Bahrain.

F1 Returns Malaysia

Malaysia will also host the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4, 2026. The landmark arrangement will see the Bahrain Grand Prix held outside Bahrain for the first time and marks Formula 1’s return to Malaysia after the country last hosted a Grand Prix in 2017.
