Children lead beach cleanup in Bahrain

Cleanup Bahrain launches a weekly environmental drive across coastlines

Children, families, residents and volunteers joined forces on Jid Al Haj beach as part of an environmental clean-up campaign organised by Cleanup Bahrain, coordinating efforts along the shoreline to remove waste and raise ecological awareness.

Participants spread across the coastal area, collecting litter and clearing debris in a community-driven initiative aimed at protecting Bahrain’s public beaches and encouraging environmental responsibility.

Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Ebrahim, a member of Cleanup Bahrain, said the group is preparing a long-term plan to clean public coastlines across the country, with one beach scheduled for clean-up every week.

He said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to preserving Bahrain’s natural environment while strengthening community participation in volunteer work.

Ebrahim added that children are a key focus of the campaign, as organisers seek to instill a culture of volunteerism from an early age and build awareness about environmental protection.

He noted that involving younger participants helps foster a sense of responsibility towards public spaces and reinforces the importance of maintaining clean surroundings.

The campaign comes amid growing efforts by volunteer groups in Bahrain to support environmental protection, with community members increasingly taking part in activities aimed at keeping coastal areas clean and accessible.
