Authorities Unveil New Prevention Strategy
An awareness drive aimed at strengthening community protection against drug abuse was launched at Country Mall in the Northern Governorate, in the presence of Governor Hassan Abdullah Al Madani.
The exhibition, organised by the governorate in cooperation with the Drug Control Directorate at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science and the “Together” programme for combating violence and addiction, focuses on highlighting the health, psychological, and social dangers of drug use.
Al Madani said the initiative supports broader community safety efforts and aligns with the governorate’s Healthy Cities Programme in partnership with the World Health Organization, underlining the role of collective action in protecting youth and preventing addiction.
The event included interactive awareness tools such as a virtual reality experience demonstrating the impact of drugs, as well as educational electronic games designed to build decision-making skills among young people. It also featured awareness materials from the Criminal Information Section and introduced the “Recovery” programme under the national anti-drug strategy.
