Speaker Meets Ukrainian Parliament Official on Sidelines of IPU Assembly
Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, met Oleksandr Korniyenko, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, on the sidelines of the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Istanbul.
During the meeting, the Speaker highlighted the importance of strengthening parliamentary coordination and communication between the Bahrain and Ukraine, and building on existing relations.
He noted that Bahrain and Gulf Cooperation Council countries are facing Iranian attacks targeting civilian facilities, infrastructure, residential areas, and energy resources.
The Speaker also reviewed the emergency item submitted by Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates condemning the attacks, based on relevant United Nations resolutions that call for an immediate halt to such actions and the protection of civilians, infrastructure, and freedom of navigation.
For his part, Korniyenko expressed hope for stability and security in the region and reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to strengthening relations with Bahrain.
