A quiet anticipation settled across Bahrain yesterday evening, as families waited for the announcement that marks the end of Ramadan.
The Shariah Sight Committee confirmed that no sightings of the Shawwal crescent had been reported, declaring today as the final day of the holy month and tomorrow, 20 March, as the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
For many, the moment carries more than a date. It signals the close of nights filled with prayer, reflection and togetherness, and the beginning of a celebration shaped by gratitude and hope.
Prayer
Against the backdrop of current circumstances, Eid prayers will be held at 6am in main mosques and selected mosques temporarily designated as grand mosques during Ramadan.
Large open prayer grounds will not be used this year. His Excel - lency Shaikh Dr Rashid bin Mohammed bin Fatis Al Hajeri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council, said the arrangements ensure that worship continues safely while preserving the spirit of the occasion.
Values
He emphasised that the message of faith remains rooted in moderation, wisdom and unity, values that bring people together and strengthen stability in times of uncertainty.
Across homes and neighbourhoods, preparations continue quietly. New clothes are folded, sweets are prepared, and children wait for the morning that feels different from all others.
Meaning
Eid arrives this year with a deeper meaning. It is not only a celebration, but a reminder that even in challenging times, faith endures and communities stand closer together.
As the first light of Eid breaks, Bahrain greets the day with prayer, resilience and a shared sense of belonging.
