The Arab Parliament has expressed full support for Bahrain, condemning what it called blatant Iranian attacks on the Kingdom and backing all steps taken to protect its security, sovereignty and people.
In a statement issued by Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, the Arab Parliament president, and addressed to Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, the legislative body said the attacks amounted to a grave breach of Bahrain’s sovereignty and posed a direct threat to its security, stability and citizens.
It said the acts were hostile, ran against international law and the principles of good neighbourliness, and damaged the basis of peace and security across the region.
Escalation
The parliament said it condemned the attacks in the strongest terms, calling them part of an unacceptable course of escalation and hostile conduct aimed at destabilising the region.
It said the acts were a clear breach of the United Nations Charter and the rules of international law, which uphold the sovereignty of states and bar meddling in their internal affairs.
The statement said the Arab Parliament stood fully with Bahrain and backed all measures taken by the kingdom to protect its national security, its people, its sovereignty and the integrity of its territory.
Right
It described that as a lawful right guaranteed by international laws and conventions.
The Arab Parliament also praised the resolve of Bahrain’s armed forces in facing what it called “these cowardly attacks” with firmness and strength.
The Arab Parliament warned that the continuation of what it described as provocative Iranian breaches and attacks posed a threat to Arab national security and harmed the chances of regional stability.
It called for a firm and responsible Arab and international stance to end such acts and enforce respect for international law and the principles governing ties between states, including sovereign equality and territorial integrity.
In its closing remarks, the statement prayed for Bahrain’s safety, security and stability under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, describing them as a source of strength and support for Bahrain and the Arab world.
