Manama: His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, has ratified and issued Law No. (10) of 2026, approving an agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the International Dates Council to establish the headquarters of the International Dates Observatory in Bahrain.

The law was issued after receiving approval from both the Shura Council (Bahrain) and the Council of Representatives (Bahrain).

According to Article One of the law, the agreement signed in Manama on September 22, 2025, between Bahrain and the International Dates Council has been officially ratified, paving the way for the establishment of the observatory’s headquarters in the Kingdom.

Article Two states that Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in his capacity as Prime Minister, along with the relevant ministers, will implement the provisions of the law. The legislation will come into effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.

The initiative positions Bahrain as a regional hub for research, monitoring and international cooperation in the dates sector, a key agricultural and economic resource across the Middle East.
