Manama: Sporting activity across Bahrain has been temporarily suspended, with major federations postponing competitions in response to ongoing regional developments.
The Bahrain Football Association confirmed that all matches under its umbrella have been delayed until further notice, with revised schedules to be announced once conditions permit.
Prior to the suspension, the King's Cup quarter-finals had progressed, with Al Khaldiya and Muharraq securing places in the semi-finals. The remaining ties — Al Ahli vs. Al Ettifaq and Bahrain Club vs. Riffa — were due to determine the other semi-finalists but have now been put on hold.
The Bahrain Basketball Association also halted all local competitions, including the tenth edition of the Khalifa Bin Salman Cup, which was scheduled to begin on February 28. Defending champions Muharraq had been aiming to retain their title.
Meanwhile, the Bahrain Handball Federation suspended all fixtures in the Khalid Bin Hamad Bahrain Handball League, and the Bahrain Volleyball Association confirmed that its tournaments will remain on hold until further notice.
Officials across all federations said sporting activities will resume only when it is deemed safe, with updated schedules to be released following a reassessment of the situation.
