Bahrain Joins Inaugural Peace Council Talks on Gaza
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa,participated in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council held today in Washington, D.C., at the invitation of U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
The meeting brought together several Majesties, Excellencies, and Highnesses, leaders of member states of the Peace Council, along with senior officials and representatives of countries and international organisations.
President Trump opened the session by expressing appreciation for the participation of global leaders, noting that the situation in Gaza remains complex and that achieving peace requires sincere collective efforts and strong political will. He stressed that nothing surpasses the value of peace and that the cost of war far exceeds the cost of stability.
The U.S. President described the Peace Council as a pivotal platform for dialogue and joint action aimed at advancing peace efforts. He also announced a financial support package for Gaza, alongside contributions from several countries toward relief and reconstruction initiatives, reaffirming the United States’ commitment to working with international partners to enhance security and stability in the region.
During the meeting, His Majesty King Hamad expressed Bahrain’s pride in participating in the Council’s first session as a founding member. He commended President Trump’s bold initiatives in proposing a peace plan for Gaza and launching the Peace Council as a genuine and forward-looking platform for those seeking peace, stability, and prosperity.
His Majesty highlighted that the Council presents a unique opportunity to unite international partners under a shared vision for a better regional future. He expressed hope that countries, organisations, and institutions concerned would take practical and effective steps to rebuild Gaza, restore hope to its people, and lay the foundations for lasting peace in the Middle East.
The King reaffirmed Bahrain’s steadfast commitment to supporting peaceful solutions to conflicts and strengthening relations among nations, religions, and peoples based on dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence. He underscored that this first Peace Council meeting could serve as a launching point toward building a “new Gaza” emerging from the devastation of conflict into a future of security, hope, and opportunity.
His Majesty further noted that achieving these goals would contribute to establishing a comprehensive framework for genuine peace in the region, fulfilling the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state, while ensuring secure coexistence alongside Israel and other regional countries, thereby promoting peace, stability, prosperity, and coexistence in the Middle East.
The King renewed Bahrain’s commitment to supporting peace and security in the region, working toward ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in a manner that meets the hopes and aspirations of all peoples in the region, and contributing to Gaza’s reconstruction to secure a better future for its people.
